PHEPSA aims to advance the image and interests of its members.

It is the recognised voice and representative body of private nursing education providers in South Africa and accepted as such by the DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH; the SOUTH AFRICAN NURSING COUNCIL and other statutory and representative bodies. Meetings are held on an on-going basis with these organisations at which the views of private health education providers are conveyed.

It has also been actively involved (and still is) in consultations and developmental work relative to the new nursing qualifications to be introduced in 2015.

PHEPSA also serves as a consultative forum for its members. Members meet 4 times per annum when challenges and issues common to all private health education providers are discussed; information regarding nursing, educational and general matters is disseminated and when relationships amongst members are established and fostered. These meetings are held in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal on an alternating basis.

In the short term, PHEPSA envisages the establishment of a learning programme development committee(s) once the new nursing qualifications are registered on the National Qualifications Framework whose work will be of substantial benefit to members.
